Marketing/Communications Manager


Grow Sandals Church’s audience and influence. Lead the team responsible for communicating the plan and vision of Sandals Church to our church, community and staff.



For nearly twenty years, people in Riverside, CA have been discovering what it means to be real with ourselves, God and others at Sandals Church. What started in 1997 as a bible study in living room of Pastor Matt Brown and his wife Tammy was just named the 45th fastest growing church in America.

In the last few years we’ve grown from one location to nine (with more on the way), launched a phenomenally successful women’s ministry and weekly Q&A podcast and seen our online audience grow by more than 400%. It’s been a whirlwind, and we honestly feel like we’re just getting started.


But here’s the deal – we’re done waiting for people to find out about us. We want to proactively reach out to people who need to know there’s a place for them to be real. We’re chasing hard after a vision of planting 500 churches, sending 100 long-term missionaries to India and reaching tens of thousands of people with the vision of being real. With a focus on marketing you’ll get to drive the strategy and implementation for growing the reach of Sandals Church across the world.

Your focus on communications will help shape this voice and ensure it is protected while strategically delivering it through all of our channels, both external and internal.   • Is chomping at the bit to make a major impact because your ideas are bigger and brighter than you’ve ever had resources for
  • Loves all things social media and follows almost as many brands as people
  • Nerds out on reports, analytics and any other metrics you can get your hands on
  • Obsesses about headlines and captions – writing, tweaking and working till you get them just right
  • Knows what to say, when to say it and how to say it so that our audience is moved and our staff is motivated




  • Getting new people to pay attention to Sandals Church
  • Defining strategies, pitching ideas and developing plans to share the vision of being real in new ways
  • Taking the reins of our social media channels and using them to reduce the barrier to entry for people attending church for the first time
  • Equipping our existing attendees and audiences to become advocates for our vision
  • Growing the audiences for our four key areas of impact: Sandals Church, Pastor Matt Brown, The Debrief Podcast, and
  • Developing a team of volunteers to make things happen and support all of our initiatives


  • Provide strategy for all internal and external communication in any format
  • Keep messaging consistent and organized across all campuses
  • Research new communication channels
  • Partner with individual ministries to help them communicate their objectives
  • Tell compelling stories
  • Put communications vehicles in place to create momentum and awareness as well as to test the effectiveness of communications activities
  • Solicit information from church and ministry leaders to organize and plan communications messages in a timely manner
  • Develop strategies to capture and communicate stories of life-change within Sandals Church
  • Remain current on broad communications trends as they are adapted in both the business and church sector
